Three Concert Works for Oboe & Piano (Splash of Fire, Appia Margutta, Resolving the Conundrum)

THREE CONCERT WORKS for Oboe & Piano
by Daniel Kelley #40050

Three Concert Works for Oboe & Piano by composer Daniel Kelley is a compelling collection of three original contemporary works that showcase the expressive, lyrical, energetic, and virtuosic qualities of the oboe. Written for oboe and piano, these pieces offer distinctive repertoire for oboe recitals, concerts, competitions, studio performances, and advanced music students.

The collection brings together three contrasting works, giving performers an engaging program that moves from energetic virtuosity to introspective lyricism and rich tonal writing.

A SPLASH OF FIRE is a brisk, energetic romp for both oboist and pianist. Four minutes in length, it is ideal for either beginning or ending a concert with dexterous flair.

RESOLVING THE CONUNDRUM is a meditation on questions that don't have answers, and, perhaps, answers that have never had questions. The oboe weaves melodic lines over and through the piano's undercurrents and subtly enunciated statements. Depending on how efficiently the performer wishes to address these conundrums, the piece is between ten and twelve minutes in length.

APPIA MARGUTTA is a lyrical opus, composed for Margaret Gilinsky. Rich and delectably tonal, it is approximately nine minutes in length.
