The Rite of Spring - Le Sacre du Printempts
by Igor Stravinsky
arranged for Viola & Piano by Victor de Almeida
Experience the power and intensity of Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring like never before in this stunning new arrangement for Viola and Piano by renowned violist Victor de Almeida. This masterful adaptation captures the full drama and color of the original orchestral score—featuring both Part I: The Adoration of the Earth and Part II: The Sacrifice—brilliantly reimagined for the expressive voice of the viola. Perfect for advanced performers and recital stages alike.
Praised for his "astonishingly beautiful tone and wide-ranging color palette" (Performing Arts Review), Brazilian-American violist Victor de Almeida is principal viola of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra and assistant principal viola of the Pacific Symphony. He has previously served as principal viola of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, as well as principal viola of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. A double prizewinner at the Primrose International Viola Competition, de Almeida has appeared as soloist with orchestras across the Americas, beginning at age 15 with the Recife Philharmonic in Brazil. Beyond the concert stage, he has recorded for over 300 major motion pictures and television scores in Hollywood and is acclaimed for his ambitious transcription of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring for viola and piano. His performances continue to inspire with virtuosity, imagination, and expressive artistry.
