SIX SPANISH AIRS for String Duet, arranged by Joel Lish
composed by Charles Auguste De Bériot (1802-1870)

De Bériot's Six Spanish Airs, originally written for two violins, are a delightful addition to the duet repertoire for string players. A contemporary of Mendelssohn and known as the father of the Franco-Belgian violin school, De Bériot was a prolific composer of works for the violin and a virtuoso violinist. The Six Spanish Airs, also called Duos Caractéristiques, were composed for two violins circa 1850. De Bériot borrowed themes from the once popular work, Ballet Espagnol by Prince Yusupov.
